Provides pre-screening according to policy and procedure for admission to rehabilitation facility. Provides professional assessment of patients and provides services according to identified needs. Contacts insurance to obtain insurance authorization of potential patients. Works with physician, patient, family, and other health care professionals in preparing and implementing admission to rehabilitation. Maintains contact with referring agencies and related people, and with community resources used for referral.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Compiles records for additional documentation requests and medical necessity denails and reviews for compliance with CMS standards; alerts ARU Program Manager of any deficiencies noted.
  • Coordinates appeals process for all denials and provides guidance on remittance for Medicare Part A or Part B billing as appropriate.
  • Completes IRF-PAI data collection in accordance with CMS standards and transmits files to CMS in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with health information management and patient financial assistance for IRF-PAI and billing needs.
  • Updating IRF-PAI as appropriate in accordance to CMS updates; informaing staff of necessary documentation to support IRF-PAI updates and changes.
  • Completes logs for admissions, discharges, and medical necessity reviews for acute rehabilitation unit.
  • Assists in data collection and analysis for quality reporting and identification of areas of opportunity for improvement for the organization.

Education/Experience

Education Required: High School Diploma

Education Preferred: Bachelors Degree

 

Experience Required: 1 year

Experience Preferred: IRF-PAI and CMS experience

Schedule Details

Day shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am - 4:30pm.
