This position is responsible for precertification/prior authorization of all services ordered by practice providers prior to services being performed. In addition, this position is responsible for the scheduling of procedures (surgeries, cardiac diagnostics, etc.) or could be directed to do so. This position would also maintain the provider practice schedule, including blocking schedule for procedure time.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Obtains precertification/prior authorization for all services ordered by provider(s) within the office (radiologic procedures, cardiac diagnostic procedures, laboratory procedures, surgeries, medications, etc.) prior to procedure being performed.
  • Enters surgery case request including CPT code(s)
  • Enters the prior authorization confirmation information
  • Works with central scheduling/surgery scheduling to schedule procedures.
  • Scheduling of pre-admission testing.
  • Scheduling of post-operative visits.
  • Maintenance of the providers practice schedules including blocking time for procedures.
  • Rooms patients, records vital signs. (Based on needs of the practice)
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Education/Experience

Education Required:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Education Preferred:  High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience Required:  Minimum one-year front office experience. 

Experience Preferred:  Prior pre-certification / prior authorization experience

Schedule Details

Day shift. 40 hours weekly. 8a-4:30p M-F This position is working within a Reid physician's office.
