A Cardiac Monitor Technician is a person who has successfully completed the Reid Health Basic Arrhythmia course and who functions at the direction of the Registered Nurse.

• The Monitor Technician will run an admission rhythm strip for patients admitted to ICCU, PPCU and CVU.
• The Monitor Technician’s primary responsibility is to notify the Nurse of any changes such as baseline rhythm, rhythm/rate changes, patient disposition, and communication with the patient’s primary Nurse.
• Follows Code Procedures.
• Properly operates unit communication equipment.
• Calls staff as directed.
• Initiates work orders.
• Independently proceeds with daily routine without delay.
• Strict adherence to Infection Control Policy with specific emphasis on hand hygiene.
• Patient care responsibilities are assigned to the staff member in accordance with the degree of supervision needed

Education Required: Successful completion of Reid Health Basic Arrhythmia course upon hire
