Overview of Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of new information systems, or enhancements to existing systems, involving the analysis of nursing or clinical user department requirements and the formation of recommended solutions.
  • Assists with the system design activities, recognizing and pointing out constraints and shortcomings or particular clinical approaches.
  • Learns the departmental workflow and application to the level of being able to test, adapt, and troubleshoot functions of the system and make recommendations for system improvements.
  • Assist departments with the definition of new system requirements and the search, selection and implementation of computer solutions that are available on the market.
  • Assists in the preparation of project plans to include estimating, scheduling and manpower loading.
  • Works with outside vendors and department personnel in the installation of new systems and changes or upgrades to existing systems.
  • Uses various utility software as an addition to basic system functions to complete the installation of systems in a manner that meets department requirements.
  • Develops and executes system testing plans to include the preparation of test data necessary to assure expected results as defined by the specifications.
  • Prepares appropriate documentation during each phase of a project.
  • Responds to reported system problems, troubleshoots and resolves issues effectively, giving the needed priority and communicating professionally with those affected.
  • Advises the Director of Clinical Informatics of progress on projects and all major problems encountered.
  • Stays current with developments in healthcare and assists other staff members on clinical issues.
  • Provides technical leadership of a project team and assists with the training of less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of fire and safety hazards by keeping current with the guidelines.
  • Is knowledgeable of the QA & QA&I Plan and participates in department QA & QA&I Activities. With development of new workflow system ensures that data elements to support QA functions are captured in order to stream line the process of chart auditing where ever possible.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Nursing processes, policies & procedures, government regulations, standards of care and financial impacts to provide guidance on how best to use information systems and technology to facilitate clinical practices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, practices and standards for the purpose of problem solving.
  • Assists in the development of clinical information systems training programs and the process to certify staff competency for new/enhanced systems.
  • Provides clinical information using report writing tools.
  • Supports and meets project plan timelines including integrated testing, end user training, go live support and post go live support.
  • Performs other assignments as agreed upon by the Director of Clinical Informatics.

Education/Experience

Education and Experience

  • Education Required: BSN
  • Education Preferred: MSN
  • Experience Required: 3-5 years of Inpatient or Ambulatory Nursing experience
  • Experience Preferred: 2 or more years of Clinical informatics experience

 

 

Licensure and Certification

  • Licensure: Valid Indiana Registered Nurse License
  • Certifications: Must obtain Epic Clinical Informatics certification within 90 days of hire.

Schedule Details

Day Shift. Salaried. Monday -Friday 630a-4pm. Hours can vary.
