Overview of Responsibilities

Patient care and administrative responsibilities are assigned to the O.T.A based on the degree of expertise, education, and other appropriate factors The O.T.A. may rotate through clinical assignments including inpatients, outpatients, home health, contracted services, and mental health patients

The O.T.A. Is responsible to the Occupational Therapy Manager and supervising occupational therapist (O.T.).      

The O.T.A. is clinically responsible for students, aides, and volunteers working under his/her direction.

The O.T.A. may be assigned to work certain weekends and holidays in accordance with department policy.

Education/Experience

Certified OT Assistant:

Education: Associates degree in Occupational Therapy Technology from an AOTA-accredited educational program.

Experience: None required. Preference may be given to individuals with advanced clinical experience or skills.

Supervision: All O.T.A.s require at least general supervision by an O.T. The level of supervision is related to the ability of the O.T.A to safely and effectively provide these interventions delegated by an O.T.
