Overview of Responsibilities

  • Works independently when required to perform basic ultrasound exams.
  • Work directly with OB/Gyn providers to perform diagnostic obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound procedures for our female population.
  • Follow standardized ACOG guidelines, as well as exercise independent critical thinking and clinical knowledge to accurately evaluate gynecological, maternal, and fetal anatomy and physiologic status beyond the requirements of standardized protocols.
  • Greets patients and prepares for procedure. Educates patients and family members on procedure to be performed.
  • Positions patients to obtain images needed. Captures images to present to physician for diagnosis.
  • Maintains patients medical records related to ultrasound procedures.
  • Sterilizes and maintains ultrasound equipment. Documentation for department records (i.e., inventories of supplies and patient statistics) to ensure adequate supplies and proper patient records.
  • Practice effective team functioning.
  • Provide education to patients and students.
  • Maintain records, respect confidentiality, and follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Prepares ultrasound rooms ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available before performing procedures. Operates all equipment in a safe manner in accordance with clinical and department's policies and procedures on safety.
  • Observe Universal Precautions and Infection Control and Safety.
  • Responsible for keeping abreast of current ultrasound skills and new developments in the field of ultrasound and maintaining CME credits and payment of ARDMS due to maintain license.

Education/Experience

Education Required: Associate degree in radiological technology or graduate of a certification program in Ultrasound Technology.

Experience Required: 2 years of hands-on OB/Gyn ultrasonography experience 

Experience Preferred: 5 years of hands-on OB/Gyn ultrasonography experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine office or with high-risk pregnant patients. 

Licensure: Current registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN and Abdomen 

Certifications: Current registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in OB/GYN. ARDMS Registration is to be obtained within one year of hire date. BLS required.

Schedule Details

Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
