Audiology Assistants are regulated by state regulations and fall under the responsibility of the supervising audiologist who determines the applicable requirements for the assistant in the specific work setting. The role of the Audiology Assistant is to be supportive of the audiologist by performing routine tasks and clinical duties so that the audiologist is available for the more complex evaluative, diagnostic, management, and treatment required by the level of education and training of a licensed audiologist. The role of an assistant leads to an increase in productivity by reducing wait times, enhancing patient satisfaction, and reducing costs by performing those skills that do not require the licensed audiologist.
